ADMISSIONS ELIGIBILITY

Individuals wishing to attend must provide the following:

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, TRANSCRIPT OR GED

PROGRAM CONSISTS OF 4 PARTS

FRESHMAN

ORIENTATION TO OPERATOR 1000

The operator 1000 hours program begins with a exstensive dive into life skills. In this portion, students will explore topics such as Heathy Body and Mind, Ergonomics, Communication Skills, Human Relations and Resilience.

SCIENCE OF COSMETOLOGY

In the Science of Cosmetology introduces student to Microbiology, Infection Control, First Aid, Basic Anatomy, Electricity, and Chemicals relating to the treatment of the hair and scalp. The disciplines established during this stage of the program will provide a foundation on which to build a successful career as a stylist.

BUSINESS OF COSMETOLOGY

The final portion of the freshman phase will teach students about the business aspect of the profession. Subjects such as, Goal Setting, Salon Operation and Ownership, Retailing Products and Client Service Essentials will be the focus, preparing students for live practical services.

SOPHMORE

OPERATOR 1000 HOURS FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS

The sophmore portion of the curriculum introduces operator 1000 students to the art of Sculpture and Hair Design. While performing services on live models, they will be given the opportunity to apply and hone their skills. After completion of this section, students will be able to effectively perform women’s and men’s haircutting as well as precision long hair designs.

The sophomore stage concludes witrh a brief study of materials and processes used in Wig Making and Hair Extension Services.

JUNIOR

ADVANCED OPERATOR 1000 HOURS SERVICES

As juniors, students will gain the knowlegde neccesary to perform additional services in the shop or salon. Haircoloring and Lightening, as well as Perms and Relaxers, and all products associated with these advanced services are the focus. Hair Removal, Skin Care and Nail Services complete the course material, giving the student all skills needed for entry level success.

The remainder of course content focuses on practical floor activities, where students learn to hone their skills and prepare for the state board examinations.
